Why 3D Rendering Animation Design and Modeling?

3D animation industry is one of the most challenging and innovative fields today. Lots of opportunities and creativity are there in 3D architectural animation industry. To remain on top in 3D animations, it is advisable to be in touch with latest techniques and skills in the market. So many new techniques have emerged in 3D architectural animation industry, but 3D rendering animation design and modeling is the most popular of all.

3D architectural animation design and rendering animation is quite popular due to certain reasons. It is the most recent technique with wide range of utilities. It is easy to implement as well as more useful than any other technique. 3D - rendering animation design can be defined as the process of creating or moving images of different objects. It is the unique combination of 3d architectural rendering and 3d animations design.

Learning 3d Animation and Modeling

Throughout history different devices had been in use to create the illusion of motion or animation. Zoetrope a wheel like device with picture on it was invented in China in 180 A.D. Phenakistoscope, Flip books and then cameras began to show moving pictures. With invention of computer, computers begin to be used for animation.
Hummingbird (1967) a ten minute film was considered as the first computer generated animation film. From then on computers begin to be used for creating 2d and 3d animation. Toy Story (1995) was first feature length 3d animation movie. Then rest is the history with block buster movies such as Avatar, Shrek, Up etc grossing heavily at box offices. 3d Computer Generated Imagery or CGI is now being heavily used in not only Hollywood but throughout the world.
I began my journey of learning animation and modeling. For your convenience I have enumerated my journey.
1. I got a trial version of the 3d animation software and began tinkering. In the beginning I did not know even a bit about this software. I and my brother keep fiddling with buttons in the interface. Through this trial and error we would discover new things each day.
2. Then when we got some basic knowledge of the software and we began making things given in the help menu. Slowly and gradually our skills were getting polished.
3. Almost 1 to 2 years passed in this tinkering. My brother realized he could not go further so he gave up but I kept trying, learning one thing after another. I downloaded learning material and tutorials from the internet.

Things To Consider When Looking For Reputable Game Design Schools

If you want to have a lucrative career in the video gaming industry in the future, have the right training today. There are different game design schools to choose from out there. Picking which of them to enroll in can be a challenge. But if you know your priorities and certain things to consider in an institution, the task can become easier.

Not all of these learning institutions are the same. It's important that the one you pick has proper accreditation. Go online or call up the proper agency in your country which gives accreditation to schools. There are varied reasons why it's best to go for an accredited one. Let's just say that the school where you're from is one of the things that your interviewer will take a look at when you're applying for a position.
Be able to point out which part of the industry you like to concentrate on. There are people who focus on the story development aspect, while there are those who opt for graphics design. Choose as institution specializing in the field you're after.

The location is one of the important considerations. In case the most reputable one that you like to attend is located far away from your home, you should be open to relocating. But if moving to a different place isn't an option, see to it that the one you settle for offers the course or program you're looking for.
Your decision should also be based whether or not the school is offering the course or program you want to have. Those who are on a budget and like to land a job soon enough often go for something which takes 2 years to complete. Such focuses only on certain designing skills. It may take longer than 2 years to earn a bachelor's degree, but the great thing about it is there are more opportunities waiting for you once you graduate.

Flash Animation On Your Site? Pros And Cons

Flash on a website can really enhance a site and entertain with visual movement and dynamics. But I'm still surprised to see complete Flash sites that seem to be more informational type sites. For music, design or multi-media type sites this may be very appropriate and even expected by your visitors. But if a site is primarily there to provide information, sell products or services, why would a visitor want to wait for flashy intros? Some Flash can enhance, but too much Flash can hurt a site (sometimes without the site owner being aware of it) and frustrate visitors. Here's a list to consider when using Flash:

Graphic Designing For All And Sundry

Graphics are basically pictures and drawings, which are either created by computer or entered into the computer through scans or photographs--vector graphics, raster graphics and bit map. The form of communicating through computerized drawings and representations is called graphic designing. Traditionally a poor man's tool--applied to books and magazines but now with the advent of computers it's now applied to both print media as well as interactive media. The designing process is a complex step-by-step process, which starts with taking requirements from the client and ends with final designed product.
Graphic designing can be applied to the following:
1. Animated logos
2. Booklets
3. Brochures
4. Business Cards
5. Greeting cards

3D Animations Work Best When There is a Clear Concept

It is during the editing process that you can begin to see if all the elements we just discussed have come together. If not, back up, rework, and try again. Often, during the editing process, sound is added as an afterthought. However, sound is so important that it really deserves its own mention and category step. Animations work best when there is a clear concept of sound from the beginning of the project. Sound can help dictate motions, timing, and feeling. Take some time to create a sound design.

Be careful not to just use stock sounds over the top of a creation. Putting stock sound over the top of a meticulously created 3D animation that took you weeks or months to painstakingly and lovingly create is like buying the whitest flour from Nebraska, the finest cocoa-beans from South America, the purest sugar from Hawaii, and then getting water from the gutter to make a cake. The biggest issue for many computer artists is the lack of outside feedback and influence. It is easy to get buried in the project at hand, and finish the project without ever getting any advice.

Lion And Wolf Tattoos - The Most Popular Animal Tattoo Designs

Animal tattoos have become very popular in the recent times. Different animals like butterflies, snakes, turtles, spiders and dolphins are being inked on the body parts of human beings nowadays. Lion and wolf tattoos are also very popular. Although wolf tattoo designs are mainly popular among men, still women are also having it on their skin nowadays. Here in this article we will deal with these two popular animal tattoos for women.

A wolf tattoo generally comes in two definite designs-realistic or portrait looking style and cartoon like prints. Realistic style is more preferred by women. It has a deeper meaning and significance. Energy, power and aggression are some of the most significant meanings associated with a wolf tattoo design.
Wolves are generally considered as evil and menacing and thus you will find this kind of tattoo design only on those who are fascinated by fierceness of a wolf. This animal is also used as a mythical character and appears in many fables and folk tales. This adds charm and mystery as well as an element of danger. This creature is also related to cunningness and cruelty. These characters make the creature more bewitching and captivating.

However, many positive meanings also associated with this animal. It has an important role to play in the lives of North American tribes. It even symbolizes guidance and intelligence. As wolves live in pack, they even symbolize loyalty and unity.

Create Animated GIF Objects in Fireworks

These GIF (Graphic Interchange Format) objects really fall in the Bitmap group. They were popularized by CompuServe since 1987. Their main advantage is portability. However they are well known for being compatible with many web browsers including Firefox and the Internet Explorer. They support up to 8 bits per pixel and can therefore work with up to two hundred and fifty six different palette colors. There are some color limitations on GIF images which make them unsuitable for processing photographs. They are best used for simpler images such as logos.

First of all you will need to create your graphics. This is a separate topic that might require you to have significant creative skills. You should make as many as you think you will need. In practice it is better to have an excess of objects than a shortage. You can always store others for future use or you can rotate them around so that your website appears to be vibrant and dynamic.

Choosing A Flash Designer

Although the reason you are reading this article is to find out how to choose the best Macromedia Flash designer to suit your needs, it does no harm to clarify what Macromedia Flash is. The distinguishing factor of Macromedia Flash designs is that they are created using a vector format as opposed to the more common method of using thousands of coloured square dots known as pixels. Whereas pixels require a large file size because the colour and location of each dot must be recorded, vector graphics use mathematical equations to define lines and shapes, resulting in smaller file sizes, faster download times and crisper, more scalable images. End result: your site or banner advertisement looks better and is delivered faster, enabling you to make a vivid impression on potential customers. Research into internet usage has found that web pages have thirty seconds to make an impact, and with Macromedia Flash you can make every second count.

So why doesn't everybody use Macromedia Flash then? Well, the creation of images and animated banners using the Macromedia Flash utility can be extremely tricky and time consuming, although the recent introduction of third-party applications has made it easier to create animated banners using the same file format. Conversely, this democratisation of the market has made sourcing a good designer more difficult as there are now innumerable Flash animators of various experiences and skill levels to consider. This is where the Approved Index, the UK's leading online business to business referral service, proves invaluable, with a list of no more than eight qualified flash design companies on its books for you to contact. This article provides a list of requirements and questions to ask so you that will be able to further narrow down the field and choose the most appropriate Flash website designer for your needs:

3D Animation - Make Better Designs for Your Dime

Transitioning into the world of 3D animation has been an exciting adventure for many studios across the world. The chance to gain inspiration from a whole new perspective is largely a great gift, but has proven to be slightly problematic for more classic companies. Disney itself came into a minor crisis, due to the fact that Mickey was always drawn with both circular ears visible at all angles, to keep his trademark silhouette.

Translating that into a fully dimensional model posed a huge obstacle- whether his ears would now be normally attached to his head, or if a complex solution could be found to keep his ears facing the camera at all times. Of course, there was no way for them to realize this problem when he was first created, but designs created in current times should always be mindful of the process.

Planning in all three dimensions is likely the most challenging part of 3D animation design. Creating turnaround sheets of characters, so they have fleshed out designs from all possible viewing angles, has always been a crucial step in 3d animation production. This ensures the character will look consistent throughout, no matter what pose or position they are in. However, scenery and background objects are often designed from only one angle, so converting a project would involve conceptualizing each component over again.

In The World Of Web Banner Design Even Small Frames Count

As you know frames and sequences of the movies are playing big roles in shaping the main structures of the animations across the internet and the samples spotted online in formats of GIF plus Flash are being consisted of frames that once they are played together and harmoniously on browsers panels, some custom animated experiences would be achieved.

By checking out the net based multimedia globe, examining the nifty animations and tweaks loading on the homepages of forums, blogs as well as e-commerce relevant directories, you would easily spot dozens of animated banner ads coming in a variety of formats which have been designed by the experts professionally, reflecting the businesses.

In fact, one of the reasons why the commercial entities and developers are getting in touch with the expert banner design makers is because of the multimedia needs they have felt regarding their custom traffic building methods, the way their portals are projected online. Animations, based on real world experience can outperform the static graphics mostly.

You know, it's all about the visibility issues and how people are finding and visiting the websites main pages in the cyber globe. Animated GIF ads which come in sizes like 468x60 or 728x90 are nowadays being used by the global sites admins, the financial experts who have been constantly working on full-fledged marketing campaigns belonging to their clients.

Frames used as built-in segments of the animations, as you may guess are playing crucial roles over the net, hugely affecting the way animations and movies would be loading on the browsers panels. Sometimes they might easily determine which ads and custom graphics would receive better and higher clicks on the net as even sequences of the files are significant.

Some recommendations have been posted over the net, by the experts on how to make and optimize the frames of animated graphics and paying attention to them can be definitely recommended always. As an example, it is wonderful to use the Flash and GIF ads which are consisted of only a few frames, to ensure the completed works of art would load faster online.

The Importance of Great Character Designs in Games

Computer graphics has seen remarkable advancement in the past two decades.
But even in the 2D pixel art days, game players have always been attracted to games revolving around charismatic characters. Today, with computer graphics being deployable across many platforms with a wide spectrum of possibilities with less technical inhibitions, many of these characters have been immortalized into 3D versions.

The very fact that these characters survived the transition from 2D to 3D is testimony of the fact that their charisma spans across the different generations. Examples are Super Mario, Donkey Kong and Sonic the Hedgehog.

Good character designs can help to make a game look that much more interesting and propel sales. But great character designs can actually help to create huge franchises out of games, build up companies and even shape the landscape of the gaming industry.

Tips for Creating a Great Character Design III

Personality Characters that lack personality are boring and forgettable. How does your character express himself? Is he loud or shy? Is he intelligent or dumb? Is he evil, neutral or good? What are his strengths and weaknesses? What are his likes and dislikes? These are all parts of your character's personality and you should incorporate all these into the design to create a greater sense of identity for the character.

Think 3D Design concepts usually start from 2D. Look further and consider your character in 3D. How would it look? Some characters look better in 2D and vice versa. Would your character translate well to 3D? The best kind of character designs look good in both 2D and 3D.

Interior Design Trend: Animal Prints

The use of animal prints within interior design and in fact fashion has been an annual recurring theme; sometimes the style of prints are updated or reinvented but it is commonly known as a fail-safe chic style to implement within a room set.

Sometimes referred informally as 'Africa chic', use of animal and ethnic patterns is generally referred to as one of the most widespread seasonal trends within interior design. Industry experts would agree with this statement.
Along with the commonly acknowledged zebra, leopard and tiger skin prints, other ethnic styles include ikat prints, use of earthy palettes and chunky embroidery with a disordered finish. The types of materials used are combinations of linen, raw cotton and wool.

To avoid animal prints making a room look cluttered or too busy, use sparingly: it is recommended to use the print on a monochrome background. Implementing animal prints within the room's curtains or cushions will be sufficient. A rug would also work. Animal prints can enhance a plain room set beautifully. It is imperative to use animal prints in a tasteful, subtle way as sometimes the prints if used too liberally can look tacky and completely alter the look of a room.

Tips on Selling Character Designs

Have you ever wondered how some cartoon characters became so famous - with hundreds or thousands of merchandise bearing their names and images? Remove the ones with animated series out of the equation since they have a marketing medium - and you still have a handful of characters out there who became famous through the merit of their designs. Examples are Julius the Monkey and Emily the Stange.
This article discusses some tips for creating and selling cartoon characters.

Cute VS Cool
Are your characters cute or cool? Cute characters easily attract the females and the young children markets - two of the largest consumer markets. Character merchandise is often cheaper and more affordable. Therefore profit through sheer volumes of sales can be quite astounding.
Cool characters are more suitable as collectibles, and often cater more to the male market. As they are often more exclusive and expensive, sales volumes are seldom as impressive as cute character merchandise.
In the spirit of games development, decision makers might simply want to pick a design that is most suited for the game concept. But as far as possible, if the game concept so allows, do try to go for cute characters because they stand a higher chance of getting licensed for merchandising.

Character Bible
A character bible is the foundation for every product that would stem from an intellectual property - be it a game, animated series, comic, story book etc. Regardless of the resulting product, everything should refer back to the character bible. This is what the bible is all about - a kind of blueprint for an intellectual property besides being a showcase for the intellectual property.

On Flash Design and Animation

Flash design is basically an animated clip that is produced in a program called Adobe Flash. Flash design and animation allows designers to create interactive graphic content or materials that are relatively small in size and are easy to manage. It makes use of vector graphics, thus the images are sharp, clean, and of good quality even if the display is resized. Because they are generally small in size, Flash animations are easily downloadable and they load quickly in a webpage. It is one of the most popular tools for web design because it can be used for a variety of functions, like full-screen animations, navigation bars, banners, and other animated features.

There are two ways to create a Flash design in Adobe -Timeline and ActionScript. In Timeline, you draw and alter frames to produce different kinds of motions, from simple blurring or reshaping motions to more complicated movements. Timeline allows designers to animate objects using set functions that are easy to follow. On the other hand, ActionScript is like a language used to create more complex animations. It provides more room for a variety of motions and greater flexibility to users compared to Timeline.
The following are the uses and advantages of using Flash animations:

• Recent studies show that websites that use Flash content generate higher traffic.
• A full Flash website design is more entertaining and interactive compared to a static HTML website. It is for this reason that FlashScript is now seen as a programming task as opposed to merely design.
• Flash content can deliver messages clearly, creatively, and with a stronger impact. It is being used for advertisements, banners, website introductions, product demonstrations, and many more.

Popular Forms of Animation Used in Media Today

3D computer graphics

The advanced technique of graphic designing is the 3D computer design which gives the 3 dimensional illusions for the designs using the geometrical data. It also uses the light, wind and other effects to give a realistic view of the graphic. It is mostly used in entertainment world especially movies to design artificial environment. Movies like Avatar, used the 3D graphics using various software like Maya that on rendering gives a realistic 3 dimensional illusion of the sketch. The stages of 3D designing are modeling, layout and animation, and rendering. Often it is a time-consuming process.

Architectural animation

Architectural animation is used for the designing of the proposed architecture or a building. This is used to provide a view of the final product with a realistic vision of how it looks. Unlike the traditional blue print which is in sketch model, or 2D designing, the architectural animation provides a 360 degree view of the building inside and out thus able to know how it looks and to understand the strategic points of the building. The software used in designing the animation are Autodesk maya, CAD, CAM.

How We Are Killing The Graphic Design Community

There has been much debate surrounding whether some people's actions are effectively killing the graphic design community or not, but lately it seems that those who are arguing that this is true are getting the upper hand. Unfortunately, there are some people out there who try to use the community to their own advantage, often causing those who are passionate about design to turn away and look elsewhere for enlightenment. So, what sorts of actions are effectively killing the design community?

Blog Comments

Whilst most people use design blogs as a way of finding out what is new in the industry and keeping up to date with the ebb and flow of trends, others use them for ferrying spam. This includes posting comments under names like 'graphic design Melbourne' or 'artistic creations', using fake profile images (often of a celebrity or something cute), telling everyone that they were the first comment (even if they weren't), and proclaiming that the original poster is wrong without explaining why.

The Fusion of Technology Lies in 3D Rendering and 3D Modeling

Gone are those days when we used to hold the pencil in our hands and spend hours in sketching up the model structure of our designs related to anything architectural. Now, we are a generation where we can see the fusion of technology which helps in 3D Rendering and 3D Modeling of various designs and making them visualize in a more creative way. These 3D models or animations are used extensively by the construction and fashion world to make people see their creativity with a realistic approach like lighting's, textures, supplementary effects and colors to your landscape or buildings. Let us know what these two different terms like to tell us about their individual identity.
In the golden age, we used to have sculptors who used to build various sculptures. They also would wish to have a tool which could make their work easy and hands to rest. Well, the past has gone and the present techniques used in 3D Modeling are just amazing. Today, software like Maya, Soft-image, 3DS Max and other software in the computer makes your work of modeling a structure easy and with proper textures and effects too. They provide you with a set of tools that help you design the model according to your imaginations but in a computer representative form. It also has various forms like Primitive, Surface, NURBS, Sub-division and Polygonal Modeling which help in designing a model on the basis of the scenarios. Later on these models are created more beautifully by the designer with the required touch ups in a stage called 3D Rendering.

How to Design an Animated Logo

Although animation may seem difficult, it really is just a matter of having the right tools and learning to follow directions. Your first animated logo will be very simple. Once you understand the mechanics of creating one, you can then work to improve it.

Instructions

  1. 1. Create a new file and design the background elements of your logo. This will be the background layer.

    2. In a new layer, design the first frame of your animation. Create a new layer for each frame, and save the file in Photoshop format with all the layers intact.

    3. Next, in ImageReady, go to File>Edit. This will open the file where you will create the animation.

    4. In ImageReady, make sure the Animation and Window layer is visible. If they're not, go to Window>Layers (or Animation) until they are.
