Learning 3d Animation and Modeling

Throughout history different devices had been in use to create the illusion of motion or animation. Zoetrope a wheel like device with picture on it was invented in China in 180 A.D. Phenakistoscope, Flip books and then cameras began to show moving pictures. With invention of computer, computers begin to be used for animation.
Hummingbird (1967) a ten minute film was considered as the first computer generated animation film. From then on computers begin to be used for creating 2d and 3d animation. Toy Story (1995) was first feature length 3d animation movie. Then rest is the history with block buster movies such as Avatar, Shrek, Up etc grossing heavily at box offices. 3d Computer Generated Imagery or CGI is now being heavily used in not only Hollywood but throughout the world.
I began my journey of learning animation and modeling. For your convenience I have enumerated my journey.
1. I got a trial version of the 3d animation software and began tinkering. In the beginning I did not know even a bit about this software. I and my brother keep fiddling with buttons in the interface. Through this trial and error we would discover new things each day.
2. Then when we got some basic knowledge of the software and we began making things given in the help menu. Slowly and gradually our skills were getting polished.
3. Almost 1 to 2 years passed in this tinkering. My brother realized he could not go further so he gave up but I kept trying, learning one thing after another. I downloaded learning material and tutorials from the internet.

Things To Consider When Looking For Reputable Game Design Schools

If you want to have a lucrative career in the video gaming industry in the future, have the right training today. There are different game design schools to choose from out there. Picking which of them to enroll in can be a challenge. But if you know your priorities and certain things to consider in an institution, the task can become easier.

Not all of these learning institutions are the same. It's important that the one you pick has proper accreditation. Go online or call up the proper agency in your country which gives accreditation to schools. There are varied reasons why it's best to go for an accredited one. Let's just say that the school where you're from is one of the things that your interviewer will take a look at when you're applying for a position.
Be able to point out which part of the industry you like to concentrate on. There are people who focus on the story development aspect, while there are those who opt for graphics design. Choose as institution specializing in the field you're after.

The location is one of the important considerations. In case the most reputable one that you like to attend is located far away from your home, you should be open to relocating. But if moving to a different place isn't an option, see to it that the one you settle for offers the course or program you're looking for.
Your decision should also be based whether or not the school is offering the course or program you want to have. Those who are on a budget and like to land a job soon enough often go for something which takes 2 years to complete. Such focuses only on certain designing skills. It may take longer than 2 years to earn a bachelor's degree, but the great thing about it is there are more opportunities waiting for you once you graduate.

Flash Animation On Your Site? Pros And Cons

Flash on a website can really enhance a site and entertain with visual movement and dynamics. But I'm still surprised to see complete Flash sites that seem to be more informational type sites. For music, design or multi-media type sites this may be very appropriate and even expected by your visitors. But if a site is primarily there to provide information, sell products or services, why would a visitor want to wait for flashy intros? Some Flash can enhance, but too much Flash can hurt a site (sometimes without the site owner being aware of it) and frustrate visitors. Here's a list to consider when using Flash:
